SUMMARY: The wall was built at the end of the 16th century to defend the city, after the attack of the legendary Sir Francis Drake. The fortification is the most complete in South America and one of the best and well-preserved walls of the walled cities in the world, therefore declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
