SUMMARY: The Tatacoa Desert is one of the main environmental and tourist attractions in Colombia. It attracts the attention of scientists from various countries who investigate the evolution of the Earth and living organisms. It also has perfect geographical and atmospheric conditions for observing celestial bodies; Tatacoa does not have light or noise pollution. It is the second largest arid zone in Colombia after the La Guajira Peninsula. Tatacoa is not exactly a desert, but a dry tropical forest.​
